Place your fire pit correctly
A fire pit is a great way to create an outdoor gathering place for friends and family. You can place it in an area that suits your needs as long as you are aware of the safety precautions relating to an open fire.
Place your fire pit in an open area and preferably on concrete tiles, as these can withstand the heat very well. However, you can also easily place the fire pit on the bare ground or with some sand or stones underneath.
Cooking food over an open fire always creates a very unique atmosphere and coziness whether you gather around a fire in nature and bake delicious twisted bread on sticks on a cool autumn day with the scouts or if you enjoy a beautiful midsummer evening at the garden barbecue with the family.
We carry a wide and deep product range of fire pits and fire bowls with a large selection of accessories, so you can put together your very own unique solution.
NordicOutdoorDesign helps you find the optimal solution for the city park, marina, campground, or in nature at shelters, on the beach, or in the forest.

Fire pit and grill products are available in almost all sizes, variations, and shapes. All fire pits, grills and bowls are made of 3 or 4 mm steel. Fire bowls are offered in diameters of Ø60, Ø80, Ø100, and Ø120 cm and in raw steel, corten steel, and black powder-coated steel. Corten steel and black powder-coated steel ensure longer durability, minimal rust, and preservation of the product's original appearance.
We look forward to helping you find the fire pit that suits your needs.
The difference between a fire bowl made of cast iron and a regular raw steel (iron) fire bowl
Fire bowls are made of raw steel and cast iron - but what is the difference? Steel is generally considered the more durable option, as it can withstand higher heat without warping or cracking. On the other hand, cast iron fire pits are lighter and often cheaper. They may not hold up as well under extreme heat and may rust faster - often being a mixture of various materials and alloys. In the end, the choice between steel and cast iron is a matter of personal preference.
Regardless of the material you choose, be sure to follow all safety guidelines and monitor your fire carefully.
Use a fire pit for outdoor cooking
Have you ever cooked over an open flame? If not, it may be time to add fire-cooking to your culinary repertoire. Whether it's a backyard barbecue or a camping trip, dishes prepared over a fire have a unique flavour that can't be replicated in a kitchen.
Moreover, there's something about the simplicity and rustic quality of using a fire pit for cooking that brings people together in a special way.
So, what would you like to cook over the flames? Everyone knows about the nostalgic campfire marshmallows, but there's so much more that can be prepared outdoors. Create delicious skewers with meat and vegetables, whole fish, and even chicken that you can wrap in foil for extra juiciness. You can bake excellent flatbreads or even pizza! Do it over a fire pit with a grill for the best results. If you plan to cook for many people, remember to use an extra-large fire pit.
Choose the right wood for your fire pit
In principle, you can use all types of wood for your fire pit, whether it's a small or large one. However, some types of wood are better suited than others. Regardless of the wood type, it should be completely dry.
Soft woods like pine and spruce dry quickly and can be found in most stores. Both types give a pleasant scent but burn relatively quickly. However, it's sufficient if you want a smaller campfire, and you can always add some extra wood to your fire pit.
Heavier hardwoods like oak and beech burn for a longer time, and the embers also last longer. This is perfect if you plan to cook over the fire.
Additionally, many people use birch wood for their fire pits. Birch burns for a long time, produces minimal smoke, and has little crackling. However, the embers are not very long-lasting.
Finally, you should avoid treated wood such as pressure-treated lumber or plywood, as it can release harmful chemicals when burned. Willow and poplar are also not recommended because they produce a lot of smoke.
